Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino gambling is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling den, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that contains numerous amenities on top of the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
